The District of Columbia Public Health Association (DCPHA) is dedicated to protecting personal, public, and environmental health in the Metropolitan Washington area.

The District of Columbia Public Health Association is currently seeking nominations for all positions on a rolling basis. All members and non-members may apply.*
The Treasurer will keep the GC apprised of key financial events, trends, and concerns, and assessments of the organization’s fiscal health. The Treasurer is also responsible for completing and ensuring the completion of required financial reporting forms in a timely manner and making these forms available for the GC’s review and are submitted to appropriate regulatory and affiliated entities in a timely and proactive fashion.
Affiliate Representative to APHA
Affiliate Representative to the American Public Health Association is a member of the DCPHA GC and is elected by the GC, to represent DCPHA on the APHA GC. The affiliate representative to the GC (ARGC) maintains communication between APHA and DCPHA and sister affiliates. This crucial leadership role ensures an active communication and cross-fertilization of ideas across affiliates, especially regionally, and the APHA, in addition to representing DCPHA positions on APHA GC. The ARGC is also responsible for paying her/his expenses to attend and participate in the APHA annual meeting.
*Nonmembers will be required to join the organization prior to being seated on the governing council.

Connection: You will be connected to a larger group banded together to produce positive results for public health in our region.
Conferences: Conferences can provide quality education and networking for public health professionals, and you will receive a significant discount as a member. You will be able to contribute to the content, help plan the Conference or attend to enhance your professional development.
Public Policy/Advocacy: We plan to offer strong advocacy programs centered on assuring that public health voices are being heard. You can keep track of public health issues under consideration by the State Legislature. In the future we want to arrange Public Health contracts with a lobbyist to advocate for priority public health issues.
Free Informational Sessions: The association keeps members in touch with each other and current issues through the association’s web site and email updates of emerging issues relevant to public health. Stay informed about public health in your region and in a way that saves you time.Read more
